Pride is an event of the Lakeland Youth Alliance, a 501(c)3 organization.
The vision of Polk Pride is to create an inspiring and dedicated culture of
support across our reach as we aim toward a future of increased
empowerment for those in the LGBTQ+ community. Polk Pride aspires to be
the premier platform for education and entertainment for lesbian, gay, bisexual,
and transgender individuals as well as their friends, families, and allies. We seek
to unite the people of Polk County in an effort to promote the history, diversity,
and future prosperity of the Polk County LGBTQ+ community.
Polk Pride began in 2015 and has continued to grow year after year by bringing multiple events and opportunities to all of Polk County. Polk Pride continues to partner with LYA (Lakeland Youth Alliance) to help offer LGBTQ+ kids and their allies between the ages of 11 and 17. We help offer a safe space for teens to be who they are and hang out with their peers. We partner with PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) to help offer local resources, stories, literature, and counselors for the community.
